Maher ElHassan

As Vice President and General Manager for Becton Dickinson (BD) for the MENAT region, Maher Elhassan brings with him 30 years of broad and valuable expertise in the medical technology and IT industries.

Leading a strong and diverse team of more than 400 associates located across 4 subsidiaries, Maher is responsible for managing the company’s divisions and commercial operations of the region.

Over the past years, he successfully led the integration of BD acquisitions into the region’s operations, namely CareFusion and C.R. Bard in 2015 and 2018 respectively.

Before joining BD, Maher served as Commercial VP for MEAT at CareFusion and as Director of Sales and Marketing for the East Mediterranean and Gulf region at Karl Storz Endoscopy where he oversaw the region’s growth of the business and led the sales and marketing team.

Maher also worked at Medtronic for 10 years where he assumed key senior management and commercial roles in various regions for Europe and Emerging Markets. His last roles included leading Medtronic’s Strategic Planning and Market Development for Emerging Markets, and as Business Director for the Cardiovascular division for the MEA region.

Maher began his career in the early 90’s in the IT industry with IBM in Saudi Arabia where he was responsible for promoting and implementing system integration solutions in the Retail and Healthcare sector.

Maher is an ardent advocate of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity. He led BD’s Inclusion and Diversity council for the region and continues to actively promote gender and cultural diversity as well as women empowerment.

He currently sits on the executive board of MECOMED, serving as the association’s Ethics and Compliance committee sponsor.

A dual Lebanese and Canadian national, Maher holds a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science from USTL Montpellier, France and an MBA from ESCP-EAP in Paris.

Fluent in English, Arabic and French, Maher is married with two children.
