The Mecomed Code of Ethical Business Practice regulates aspects of the medical devices industry’s relationships with Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) and Healthcare Organizations (HCOs).

Since January 1st, 2018, and the phasing out of the direct sponsorship, independent medical education has to be supported exclusively by means of Educational Grants. Such Educational Grants can be provided to Healthcare Organizations (HCOs) or Professional Congress Organizers (PCOs) including Medical Associations (MA).

In order to allow these organizations to demonstrate their commitment to the ethical standards included in the Code of Ethical Business Practice to the industry partners, Mecomed set up a certification process, which is a voluntary initiative.

Applications to the Mecomed Certification process are currently limited to Healthcare Organizations (HCOs) Including Medical Associations (MAs) and Professional Congress Organizers (PCOs) as defined by the Mecomed Code of Ethical Business Practice.

Travel agencies are excluded from the scope of application. Therefore, applications to the Mecomed Certification initiative from travel agencies will not be considered.
